It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the passing of our beloved father, Jacob “Jack” van Ommen.
Many of you followed Dad’s incredible sailing adventures over the years, celebrating with him as he crossed oceans, explored distant shores, and ultimately fulfilled his lifelong dream of sailing around the world. Beyond the miles traveled, he built friendships with fellow sailors and readers who became part of his journey.
Dad passed away peacefully on June 8, surrounded by family. While we will deeply miss his adventurous spirit, unwavering determination, and love of the sea, we are grateful for the extraordinary life he lived and for the many people whose lives he touched.
